Annual Ringarangaroo Golf Tournaments

The UNB RFC Alumni have established two annual golf tournaments that serve as key fundraisers in support of the UNB RFC Rugby Program.  The first tournament was established in 1998 and is typically held in the Toronto, Ontario region in June.  Funds raised from this tournament have been instrumental in the creation of the Toks Akpata Memorial Scholarship in 1999. 

Toks Akpata was a UNB RFC teammate who died after becoming paralyzed from a tragic rugby injury. Toks was not the best rugby player, but he was the best teammate! He embodied the club first attitude that is at the heart of what Ironmen rugby is all about. 2022 marks the 24th year for charity golf, raising over $225, 000 to date which has funded 20 scholarships.

In 2007, the Annual Ringarangaroo East golf tournament was established to augment fundraising initiatives.  This tournament typically takes place in the Nova Scotia Halifax region in August. 

Details of these tournaments will be added to this site once dates and details have been finalized.

To date, over $200,000 has been raised by UNB Alumni that has been used to:

  • Award 3 annual scholarships
  • Bought a scrum machine
  • Invested over $25,000 in clubhouse improvements
  • Support team travel for the Maritime University League and Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championships.
